a safe and healthy home for every person.
About Us
Rebuilding Together- Roanoke, an affiliate of the national non-profit, was created in 1997 with the recognition that too many families live in substandard housing conditions. When homeowners are unable to afford the high costs of maintaining a residence, the decaying structure not only threatens the health and well being of their family but it also negatively affects their neighborhood. Just like other communities across the country, the Roanoke Valley faces important problems with its residential housing stock. Area housing studies indicate that more than 1,000 families in the Roanoke Valley are living in substandard homes.
Rebuilding Together- Roanoke has rebuilt over 400 homes with the help of hundreds of volunteers from our community. In 2012 alone, we rebuilt 93 homes and improved the lives of over 200 individuals living in those homes.
Through the use of monetary and in-kind donations and volunteers, Rebuilding Together- Roanoke can produce home repairs valued at 4 to 5 times our expense.
