Rebuilding Together - Roanoke Applications The 2009 Rebuilding Day cycle has been completed. Repairs to 31 homes Rebuilding Day made this year one of our most successful. Among the houses repaired were 15 homes in the Hurt Park area of Roanoke. Five of those homes were completed by the Redeemer Rebuilders, a group of volunteers all from local Baptist churches. Among the homes repaired was that of Doris Banks. When the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors completed work on her home, Rebuilding Together-Roanoke had repaired its 200th home. Rebuilding Together and Lowe’s team up to make significant repairs Volunteers from Lowe’s of Roanoke and Rebuilding Together-Roanoke dedicated their time and expertise to providing an accessible ramp and a new roof to the home of a disabled person in Craig County. The work was done during the last week of October. This project is one of 35 Rebuilding Together projects awarded a $10,000 grant focused on home modifications and energy efficiency. Projects were completed around October 24, which is Make a Difference Day, a national day of helping others. Lowe’s has also sponsored special projects, including a wheelchair ramp building blitz, a home windows installation blitz and other large-scale projects that focus on disabled homeowners and communities impacted by natural disasters. World Changers
With Rebuilding Day in April, World Changer projects in July and numerous grants that allow us to repair homes during the year, Rebuilding Together-Roanoke (RTR) is now accepting applications all year.

Rebuilding Together-Roanoke is pleased to announce that we have been selected to administer the CDBG funds for World Changers. Youth from across the country give up a week of their summer to travel to other areas and work on homes for the needy. World Changers work on the exterior of homes. RTR will evaluate requests for repairs and provide the materials for World Changer projects. The work week for the Roanoke Valley is July 19-26, 2009. RTR welcomes this opportunity. Our programs blend very well an will make an excellent partnership.
